About the Dow 30
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is made up of exactly 30 large US companies, chosen to represent leading industries across the economy. The lineup is reviewed periodically by a committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices and changes over the years as the economy evolves — companies are added or removed to keep the index representative.
